Howell, Michigan near Brighton, Michigan

Howell, Michigan is located about an hour northwest of Detroit, and resides as the county seat of Livingston County. This city has a rich and vibrant history, while also offering a number of events throughout the year. After all, the city’s motto is “Every day is an Event!” for a reason.

The first settlement of Howell occurred in 1834. At this time, the area was actually known as Livingston Center. It was later renamed Howell in July 1835, when the village was laid out by Flavius J.B. Crane and Edward Brooks. This name was chosen to honor Thomas Howell, a friend of Crane. The town was then incorporated in 1863, quickly growing in industry due to its proximity to Detroit. This growth continues even today as Howell becomes even more bustling than ever before.

Throughout the year, Howell becomes the stage for many events and festivals. From May to October, the downtown area boasts a Sunday Farmers’ Market. This market is awash with locally grown produce and homemade goods and crafts. Along with this market, Howell is the home of many festivals, including the Michigan Challenge Balloonfest, which takes place during the summer. Hot air balloons take to the summer sky each year, while the festival itself offers a carnival, arts and crafts, and live entertainment.

Along with these annual events, Howell also has plenty to do year-round. Take a visit to the Tanger Outlets mall to shop name brands at a discounted price. Afterwards, you can head over to Howell’s Main Street Winery. With reasonably priced drinks and a relaxed atmosphere, this local winery is the perfect place to wind down after a long day.

Because of its rich history and bustling, activity-filled schedule, the city of Howell is the perfect community for Brighton Honda to serve. Find out more about this great location with a visit, and stop in to check out our new Honda models while you’re there!
